Renishaw, the global engineering technologies company, will be exhibiting a range of its advanced engineering products at Northern Manufacturing, taking place in Event City, Manchester, UK, from 1 – 2 October 2014, including the Equator™ versatile gauge and of the company's additive manufacturing systems.

Visitors to stand B46 will be able to see Equator is a lightweight, fast and highly accurate versatile gauge that operators can use with ‘push-button' simplicity. Equator's innovative flexible gauging technology is based on the comparison of production parts to a reference master part, and users can greatly increase throughput and reduce scrap rates at a fraction of the cost of an equivalent custom gauging system.

Renishaw is the only UK manufacturer of metal-based additive manufacturing (metal 3D printing) machines, and the Company will show a range of fully dense, complex parts that have been built using its pioneering process. The system uses a range of metal powders, including tool steel, aluminium, titanium and inconel. The laser melting technology involves fusing the metal powder in layer thicknesses ranging from 20 to 100 microns using a high powered yterrbium fibre laser. The process is digitally driven, direct from 3D CAD data.

Visitors to Northern Manufacturing will see that in addition to the conveniences of wireless operation, the QC20-W telescoping ballbar is the first calibration tool to allow testing in 3 orthogonal planes through a single reference point. A single, simple hardware set up means quicker testing and the ability to produce a representative volumetric measurement of positioning accuracy.

Renishaw has extensive capabilities in machine tool probing systems, and will display examples of its comprehensive range of tool setting and part inspection probes, which are supplied globally as original equipment by leading machine builders, and retrofitted to machines in the field by the world's most experienced probe engineers.

From machine health checks and calibration, automated part and tool setting, in-process measurement and gauging, through to on-machine verification, Renishaw offers the hardware and software to suit the widest and most demanding machine tool applications.
